Count Allen, a French Architect and City Planner, just after he started his duty in İstanbul in 1864, desired to live calm and relaxed part of the city and decided to build a kiosk and bought the land where now Taş Mektep stands for over a hundred years. With its tiles and bricks brougt by Count Allen from Marseille, Taş Mektep stands with its beauty and glory near the bridge over railway of Marmaray. Construction lasted from 1865 to 1874 and Count Allen lived in this kiosk until an earthquake happened in 1894 and strongly felt in İstanbul.
Earthquake damaged the building and some cracks occured on the walls of the building, Count Allen decided to move another wooden house near Taş Mektep. It was sold to Mutasarrif of Preveze Ali Rıza Pacha in 1898 and inherited to his son Alaaddin Bey. In 1900 it was sold to Ministry of Education for 4200 Turkish Liras and converted to a primary school and served as Taş Mektep until 2003.
After 2003 it was abandoned it was burnt in 2009 and it did not serve as a school afterwards. In the year 2014 it was restored and has been used as Continuing Education Center of Ibn Haldun University from 2017 until today.
